Trump Threatens Military Strike As US Iran Nuclear Talks Resume In Secret Oman Meeting

A fourth round of discussions between the United States and Iran regarding Tehran’s nuclear program has concluded in Oman, with both parties agreeing to continue negotiations.

US Middle East Envoy Steve Witkoff characterized the Muscat talks as encouraging, while Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi described them as “difficult but useful.”

The United States maintains that Iran must abandon its uranium enrichment to prevent nuclear weapons development, though Tehran consistently denies having such intentions. On Sunday, Iran again emphasized it would not relinquish its enrichment program.

Former President Donald Trump withdrew from a previous nuclear agreement between Iran and five world powers in 2018. He has recently warned of potential military action against Iranian nuclear facilities should the current negotiations, which began in April, fail to produce results.

Prior to the Muscat meeting, two negotiation rounds were held in the Omani capital with another taking place at Oman’s embassy in Rome.

A senior US official reported that the latest discussions extended beyond three hours, stating: “Agreement was reached to move forward with the talks to continue working through technical elements. We are encouraged by today’s outcome and look forward to our next meeting, which will happen in the near future.”

Araghchi told Iranian state television that these talks were “more serious and more direct” than previous sessions. “The two sides have now a better understanding of each other’s positions. We can characterize the talks today as moving forward.”

However, Araghchi expressed concern about “contradictory positions taken by the US in the media,” calling them “not acceptable to us as they do not help the negotiations.”

The discussions occurred the same week that Witkoff stated in an interview with US media outlet Breitbart News that the United States expects Iran to dismantle its uranium enrichment activities.

In response, Araghchi clarified: “Enrichment is an issue that Iran will not give up, and there is no room for compromise on it. However, its dimensions, levels, or amounts might change for a period to allow confidence-building.”

Amazon’s New Robot Vulcan Outperforms Humans In Warehouse Tasks

Amazon has unveiled a new robotic system called Vulcan at an event in Dortmund, Germany, describing it as "its first robotic system with a genuine sense of touchโ€”designed to transform how robots interact with the physical world." Vulcan's primary purpose is warehouse operations, specifically stowing and picking items within Amazon's mobile robotic inventory system. The technology is detailed in two upcoming papers in IEEE Transactions on Robotics. Significant progress has been made since initial development, particularly in stowing operations. According to Aaron Parness, director of applied science at Amazon Robotics, the stowing robots have improved speed and reliability over more than 500,000 operational warehouse stows, reaching the point where the average robot now slightly outpaces the average human stower. The stowing process at Amazon involves placing products into mobile robotic pods containing fabric cubbies (bins) with elastic bands across the […]

Apple Claims Safari Use Drops First Time In 20 Years As ChatGPT Threatens Google Search

The growing influence of generative AI on traditional search engines was highlighted when Apple's senior vice president of services reported that Safari web browsing decreased for the first time in two decades, attributing this decline to users shifting to large language models (LLMs). Google contested these assertions, stating its search engine continues "to see overall query growth." However, emerging data suggests ChatGPT is making inroads in online shopping behavior. A survey by Datos revealed that between late October and mid-January, Amazon.com was the most frequently visited domain referred from ChatGPT's search function, accounting for 9.13% of all traffic. E-commerce domains collectively received 12.65% of traffic, falling behind news (21.42%) and academic (17.81%) domains. The rising trend of AI-assisted shopping is transforming marketing strategies. While traditional marketing has centered on search engine optimization (SEO) techniques to improve visibility in Google resultsโ€”focusing […]

Trump Strikes Ceasefire Deal While Houthis Pledge Continued Attacks Against Israel

Yemen's Houthi chief negotiator, Mohammed Abdulsalam, has clarified that their ceasefire agreement with the United States excludes operations against Israel. Abdulsalam told Reuters on Wednesday that attacking Israel was not included "in any way, shape or form" in the Oman-mediated deal. This announcement came shortly after Israeli warplanes struck Yemen's Sanaa airport, causing approximately $500 million in damage according to airport director Khaled al-Shaief. The ceasefire was announced Tuesday by US President Donald Trump, who declared that attacks on Yemen would cease immediately after the Houthis agreed to stop targeting vessels in the Red Sea. Omani Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi confirmed the agreement, stating that "following recent discussions and contacts... with the aim of de-escalation, efforts have resulted in a ceasefire agreement between the two sides." The deal specifies that "neither side will target the other... ensuring freedom of navigation […]

US and UK Reach Limited Trade Deal While 10% Tariffs Remain

President Donald Trump and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced a limited bilateral trade agreement on Thursday that maintains Trump's 10% tariffs on British exports while expanding agricultural access and reducing steep US duties on British automobile exports. The "general terms" agreement marks the first of numerous tariff-adjusting deals Trump expects to finalize in the coming weeks. It follows his implementation of new import taxes aimed at addressing the $1.2 trillion US goods trade deficit. Trump celebrated the deal in the Oval Office with Starmer connected via speakerphone. US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and chief trade negotiator Jamieson Greer prepared to launch negotiations with Chinese officials in Switzerland. Trump emphasized that Britain "made a good deal" but cautioned that other trading partners might face higher final tariffs due to their large US trade surpluses. "It opens up a tremendous market […]

Robert Prevost’s Unexpected Path to the Papacy

Tonight, from the Vatican, a stunning development that will reverberate across the Catholic world. The College of Cardinals, in a move that has surprised many, has reportedly chosen Robert Prevost as the successor to the papacy. A figure perhaps less known on the global stage than some of the speculated frontrunners, Robert Prevost's ascent marks a potentially significant turning point for the Church. Robert Prevost, an American prelate who has been serving as the Prefect of the Dicastery for Bishops, a crucial Vatican department responsible for recommending candidates for bishoprics worldwide, is now poised to take on the monumental task of leading over a billion Catholics. His background, notably his long service as a missionary in Latin America, particularly in Peru, offers a compelling narrative of a life dedicated to the pastoral needs of the faithful in the developing world.
