President Donald Trump announced Saturday evening that the United States had conducted what he described as “massive precision strikes” on three Iranian nuclear facilities. Speaking to the nation, Trump detailed military operations targeting sites at Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan.
In his address, Trump stated the mission’s objective was “the destruction of Iran’s nuclear enrichment capacity and a stop to the nuclear threat posed by the world’s number one state sponsor of terror.” He characterized the strikes as achieving complete success, claiming Iran’s nuclear enrichment facilities had been “completely and totally obliterated.”
The president framed the action within broader regional tensions, asserting that Iran had been responsible for American casualties through roadside bombs and other attacks over four decades. Trump referenced Iran’s rhetoric of “Death to America, death to Israel” and attributed deaths throughout the Middle East to Iranian actions, specifically mentioning former Iranian General Qassem Soleimani.
Trump emphasized coordination with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, describing their collaboration as working “as a team like perhaps no team has ever worked before.” He praised both Israeli military forces and American service members who conducted the operations, calling it an operation “the likes of which the world has not seen in many, many decades.”
The president acknowledged General Dan Caine, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and indicated that Caine and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth would hold a Pentagon press conference at 8am GMT Sunday to provide additional details.
Trump concluded his remarks with an ultimatum, stating Iran must choose between peace or face “tragedy far greater than we have witnessed over the last eight days.” He warned of additional potential targets, describing Saturday’s strikes as “the most difficult of them all by far, and perhaps the most lethal,” while suggesting other targets could be eliminated “in a matter of minutes.”
The president emphasized American military superiority, claiming “there’s no military in the world that could have done what we did tonight, not even close.” His speech ended with religious references, blessing the Middle East, Israel, and America while asking for divine protection of American military personnel.
The announcement represents a significant escalation in tensions between the United States and Iran, with Trump positioning the strikes as both defensive and preventive measures against what he characterized as Iranian nuclear threats and regional aggression.
