Tom Felton will return to the role of Draco Malfoy in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child on Broadway, marking his first time reprising the character since the film series concluded 14 years ago.
The actor will join the cast at New York City’s Lyric Theatre starting November 11, making him the first performer from the original Harry Potter films to take on their character in the stage adaptation. This engagement will serve as Felton’s Broadway debut, with performances scheduled through March 22, 2026.
“Being a part of the Harry Potter films has been one of the greatest honors of my life,” Felton stated. “Joining this production will be a full-circle moment for me, because when I begin performances in Cursed Child this fall, I’ll also be the exact age Draco is in the play. It’s surreal to be stepping back into his shoesโand of course his iconic platinum blond hairโand I am thrilled to be able to see his story through and to share it with the greatest fan community in the world. I look forward to joining this incredible company and being a part of the Broadway community.”
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child takes place 19 years following the original series’ conclusion, depicting Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Draco as they navigate sending their children to Hogwarts. The production stems from an original story developed by J.K. Rowling, Jack Thorne, and John Tiffany.
The theatrical production premiered in London’s West End in 2016, with the Broadway version opening in 2018. Additional productions have launched globally in Hamburg, Melbourne, Toronto, and Tokyo.
Sonia Friedman Productions, Colin Callender, and Harry Potter Theatrical Productions serve as the show’s producers.
Producers Friedman and Callender released a joint statement: “As fans of the wizarding world ourselves, we feel incredibly fortunate to welcome Tom into our Cursed Child family on Broadway and to offer Harry Potter fans around the globe the once-in-a-lifetime excitement of seeing him reprise this iconic role, this time on stage in New York City.”
They continued, “This moment is powerful on many levelsโTom will be making his Broadway debut and is marking a full-circle moment for not just himself, but for Draco too. He gets to inhabit Draco once more, but this time as an adult facing the relatable challenges of parenthood and the complicated meaning of legacy.”
Following the conclusion of the Harry Potter film franchise, Felton has maintained an active presence in theater and television. He made his West End debut in 2022, performing as Sam in 2:22 A Ghost Story, followed by his portrayal of Bob Edwards in Gareth Farr’s A Child of Science at Bristol Old Vic in 2024.
His television work includes appearances in The Flash, Murder in the First, the miniseries Full Circle, and Ridley Scott’s Labyrinth. Film credits encompass Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Belle, and In Secret alongside Jessica Lange, Elizabeth Olsen, and Oscar Isaac, plus Netflix productions A Babysitter’s Guide to Monster Hunting and The Forgotten Battle.
