A devastating house fire in Heckmondwike, West Yorkshire, has resulted in the deaths of a father and his nine-year-old daughter, while an 11-year-old girl remains hospitalized in critical condition. The incident occurred on Sunday morning in Russell Close, with emergency services receiving reports of the blaze at approximately 6 am. West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service deployed four crews to combat the fire. Emergency responders attempted to save the father's life at the scene, but he was pronounced dead. The nine-year-old girl was transported to a hospital but succumbed to her injuries later that day. The 11-year-old girl was also hospitalized and continues to receive medical treatment.
