Reform UK Secures Historic Victory in Runcorn By-Election
Reform UK, led by Nigel Farage, achieved a remarkable breakthrough in English local elections, winning a parliamentary by-election in Runcorn and Helsby by just six votes after a full recount. The seat, previously held by Labour with a 15,000-vote majority, represents the closest margin of victory in British electoral history. The party secured additional victories, notably in Greater Lincolnshire, where former Conservative minister Andrea Jenkyns won the mayoral race. Jenkyns, who joined Reform after losing her parliamentary seat last year, now oversees an area of approximately one million residents.
