Disney has made a significant adjustment to its theatrical release calendar, removing an anticipated Star Wars film from its December 18, 2026 slot and replacing it with the sixth installment of the Ice Age franchise. The schedule shift represents another chapter in Lucasfilm’s ongoing challenge to bring new Star Wars content to the big screen.
The displaced Star Wars project, while never officially detailed, had generated substantial industry interest as it was expected to be directed by Academy Award-winner Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy and star Daisy Ridley, reprising her role as Rey. Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy had previously outlined the film’s vision at Star Wars Celebration, describing a narrative focused on Rey’s journey to establish a new Jedi Order following the events of “The Rise of Skywalker” (2019).
The project’s development history reveals the complexities of shepherding such high-profile productions, with notable departures including screenwriter Steven Knight earlier this year, following previous exits by Damon Lindelof and Justin Britt-Gibson. Industry analysts note this follows a pattern of announced but unrealized Star Wars projects, including previously planned films from celebrated creators Patty Jenkins, Marvel’s Kevin Feige, “The Last Jedi” director Rian Johnson, and “Game of Thrones” showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss.
However, the Star Wars theatrical universe continues to evolve. “The Mandalorian and Grogu,” directed by Jon Favreau, maintains its May 2026 release date, while another untitled Star Wars project remains scheduled for December 17, 2027. Additionally, Lucasfilm has announced a new creative partnership with “X-Men” veteran Simon Kinberg, who will write and produce a fresh trilogy alongside Kennedy.
The scheduling void will be filled by “Ice Age 6,” which 20th Century Animation recently confirmed is in production. The animated feature will reunite its stellar voice cast, including Ray Romano, John Leguizamo, Queen Latifah, Denis Leary, and Simon Pegg, continuing the prehistoric adventure series that has consistently performed well during holiday releases.

She had simply woken to prepare tea for her ailing husband when tragedy struck. The shrapnel, Singh described, caused fatal head wounds. Ruby Kaur is now dead, and her daughter gravely injured. Adding to the vulnerability, Singh stated the absence of community bunkers in the area, forcing civilians to seek the fragile […]

UFC Legend Mark Kerr’s Dramatic Life Story Comes to Screen with Dwayne Johnson in Lead Role
UFC pioneer Mark Kerr's tumultuous journey through the early days of mixed martial arts is set to captivate audiences in the upcoming biopic "The Smashing Machine," featuring a transformed Dwayne Johnson in what many are calling his most dramatic role to date. Kerr, now 56, earned his intimidating nickname "The Smashing Machine" through his devastating fighting style during MMA's formative years, when fighters often competed multiple times in a single night. The Ohio native's remarkable career included four first-round stoppage wins at UFC 14 and UFC 15 in 1997, with his longest bout lasting just 133 seconds. However, the film delves beyond Kerr's octagon dominance to explore his harrowing struggle with painkiller addiction, which culminated in a life-threatening overdose in 1999. Diddy Jury Splits On Sex Trafficking But Convicts On Prostitution Charges
A federal jury delivered a split verdict in the trial of Sean "Diddy" Combs, finding him guilty of transporting individuals for prostitution while acquitting him on more serious sex trafficking and racketeering charges. After more than seven weeks of testimony about drug-fueled celebrity parties, the jury ruled that prosecutors failed to prove beyond reasonable doubt that Combs used "force, fraud, or coercion" to compel former girlfriends into commercial sex acts during events known as "freak-offs." The case centered on testimony from two women: singer Casandra "Cassie" Ventura Fine and a woman identified as "Jane," both former girlfriends of Combs. Prosecutors argued Combs used financial influence, violence and blackmail threats to coerce the women into performing sex acts at his parties. Key evidence included March 2016 surveillance video showing Combs beating Ventura in a hotel hallway and dragging her away. Ventura […]
