Mexican military forces have arrested José Ángel Canobbio ("El Güerito"), a significant figure in the Sinaloa drug cartel, in Culiacán. Officials identify him as the right-hand man of Iván Archivaldo Guzmán, son of imprisoned drug lord Joaquín "El Chapo" Guzmán. The arrest coincides with the Trump Administration's designation of the Sinaloa cartel and seven other Latin American criminal groups as foreign terrorist organizations (FTOs). The other designated groups include the Jalisco New Generation cartel, Gulf cartel, Northeast cartel, United cartel, New Michoacán Family, Tren de Aragua, and MS-13.
