Influencer Andrew Tate has been cited for speeding at 196km/h (121mph) in a 50km/h zone in Romania, according to local authorities.
The British-American was recorded driving at nearly four times the speed limit in a village approximately 184km from Bucharest, the Romanian capital.
The 38-year-old received a ยฃ310 ($420) fine under local traffic regulations and had his driving license suspended for 120 days due to the severity of the violation, police reported.
Tate and his brother Tristan currently face charges including rape and human trafficking in Romania, with additional allegations pending in the UK and US. Both brothers maintain their innocence regarding all accusations.
Under court-ordered conditions, the brothers can travel within Romania, where they reside, and internationally while their legal proceedings continue.
The speeding incident occurred on Saturday in the central village of Bujoreni, according to police statements. Authorities noted that excessive speed remains a primary factor in Romania’s road fatalities.
Tate frequently displays his luxury vehicle collection, including Bugattis and Lamborghinis, regularly posting social media photos with these cars. The former kickboxer has accumulated millions of online followers through content combining political commentary with displays of wealth.
This marks another speeding violation for Tate in Romania. In April 2021, he was stopped near Bucharest for allegedly driving a Porsche at 138km/h, according to local media. He had previously received a speeding citation in Germany in 2020.
Romanian authorities seized several of his luxury vehicles in 2023 as part of ongoing legal proceedings against him.
Tate has reportedly criticized British police for refusing bribes during traffic stops, describing such refusal as “offensive.” He has cited such attitudes among his reasons for relocating his business operations to Romania in 2017.
A recurring theme in Tate’s online messaging involves an “elite club” of successful individuals who allegedly live without ordinary constraints.
Tate has stated he escaped “the Western world” by moving to Romania, “where corruption is accessible to everybody.” A fan site quoted him saying: “If corruption exists, which it does, let us all play.”
British prosecutors have announced that Andrew and Tristan Tate will return to the UK to face 21 criminal charges, including rape and human trafficking, following the conclusion of Romanian proceedings.
The brothers also face a separate civil lawsuit from four women alleging coercion into sex work.
Additionally, Andrew Tate faces a US lawsuit from a former girlfriend who accuses him of sexual assault.
Both brothers have characterized themselves as innocent regarding all legal cases against them.
