Amber Heard has revealed the birth of twins through an Instagram post shared on Mother’s Day in the United States.
The 39-year-old American actor announced she had welcomed daughter Agnes and son Ocean, expressing she was “elated beyond words” to celebrate the “completion” of her family. Heard previously became a mother to her first daughter, Oonagh, in 2021.
Accompanying a photo showing three pairs of feet, Heard wrote: “Becoming a mother by myself and on my own terms despite my own fertility challenges has been the most humbling experience of my life.”
The actor emphasized that she had chosen motherhood “responsibly and thoughtfully” and “couldn’t possibly burst with more joy.” She described her current family situation as one she had “strived to build for years.”
“To all the moms, wherever you are today and however you got here, my dream family and I are celebrating with you,” she added in her post.
When announcing her first daughter’s birth in 2021, Heard expressed her desire to normalize motherhood without marriage, stating: “I now appreciate how radical it is for us as women to think about one of the most fundamental parts of our destinies in this way.”
Heard is recognized for her roles in films including The Rum Diary, Drive Angry, Zombieland and Aquaman.
She was married to actor Johnny Depp from 2015 to 2016. Following their separation, both accused each other of domestic abuse, leading to two significant defamation cases.
In the 2020 Depp v. News Group Newspapers (NGN) trial, Depp lost his UK libel case against the Sun newspaper after Heard provided evidence supporting the publication’s claims that he was a “wife-beater.”
The highly publicized Depp v. Heard trial in the US lasted six weeks in 2022, during which a Virginia court heard extensive details about the couple’s volatile relationship. Depp sued Heard for defamation regarding an opinion piece she wrote for the Washington Post suggesting she was a domestic abuse victim, though it didn’t mention him specifically. Heard filed a counter-suit.
The jury awarded Depp โ who denied abusing Heard โ $15 million (ยฃ12 million) in compensatory and punitive damages. Heard prevailed on one of three counter-claims against Depp and received $2 million in compensatory damages.
